Welcome To My Site

This site is primarily for developers, either beginners or experts, but also for anyone else who has an interest. It involves documentation on DHTML and the web apps I've written (and that are hosted here). The site is still in its fledgling status, so please forgive anything thats not quite right... E-mail me if you have any comments or suggestions.

Please be aware that when viewing the site, barely anything is actually finished. So bad coding and the like is hopefully down to that (patience is a prime example) rather than me being shite :).

iTunes Library Update (25/01/03)
Got up this morning when the missus went to work, and, for some strange reason didn't go back to sleep. What I did instead was to spend the following 5 hours doing this. You'll notice (if you've seen the previous efforts) that this is quite different, and, in fact, its now moving towards what I actually want the thing to look like. It's much more like iTunes and there's only one bug I've found (although the graphics are pretty shit I'm afraid). It's not written for MSIE yet.
Minor Navigation Bar Update (21/01/03)
Changed it from using spans as the menu buttons to using a's, so it now works in Chimera, which is always good :) (although theres a slight annoyance with the menus sometimes hiding when they shouldn't - seems Chimera doesn't recognise the border as part of the space an element takes up...). I'll possibly change everything to a's so that it'll work in MSIE. Who knows?
iTunes Library On-Line (20/01/03)
OK. There's been no updates for yonks, but there is a reason. Its been Christmas time! Hogmany was bitchin' too... Anyhoo, I've also had a hell of a lot of Uni work to do, so today (the first day back at Uni) is my first real chance to put anything here.
Getting back on track, this little web-app displays all the songs I have on my computer in the same fashion as iTunes does. In this way you can navigate my song list, check the songs you want by clicking on them, and then it'll e-mail me the ones you've clicked. I'll write them to CD either as mp3's or a proper audio CD for ya. Easy peasy. Click here to use it, or here for some info on how it was all done.

This is still in beta form, so aesthetics and minor bugs are still under development.
Slight Site Update (21/12/02)
Changed the site a little to make a little less work for me - made the headers for each one of these use CSS to make the 's p a c e d' look rather than using spaces and  's... also changed the navigation bar to accommodate people who use text-zoom in Moz. (see below).
Site Navigation (19/12/02)
SInce the site is growing by the minute, the method of including the navigation bar by pasting it into each page was getting exceptionally annoying. Now, since I wrote menu.js all I have to do is update that and every page changes to accommodate this. Lovely :). My work goes down by a million fold and all for 20 minutes work. It's all good :). If you'd like to see what I've done for this to happen, click here (not done yet).

21/12/02
The bar now sizes itself to appear the same no matter what Text Zoom you're using. Done by using em's rather than px's.
Patience Game (18/12/02)
Its a game of patience... Americans call it klondike or something and it comes with microsoft windows as 'solitaire' i think...
This is just a beta release as theres still a few bugs that need ironing out... (I've only been working on it for 3 days). Have a look at it here
Navigation Bar (12/11/02)
I've just put this in cos the sites getting quite extensive now. It was fine not having one and remembering how to get to certain pages when there was only 5 or so pages, but I realised today that navigating through the site is becoming a bit of an arse. So I wrote the above menubar in order to aid browsing of the site. For those of you who are interested, the menubar is made entirely out of CSS and HTML - not a single bit of JavaScript. Nice... Since it uses pure CSS, it's only very standards compliant browsers (Mozilla) that the menu will work with (as it involves :hover for arbitary elements) but since I generally only write things for Moz, this isn't a problem...

18/12/02
Just updated the menu bar to contain second level (sub) menus...
SlideShow
This web app allows users to view images in a slideshow and lots more. The slideshow is very customisable so that it looks and behaves the way you want it to - handled in the preferences window. Images in the slideshow are seperated into catagories and sets for navigation purposes - details on this are provided. The link above goes to a demo of the slideshow app which is changed slightly for this server. You should use the provided download if you want to use this web app for yourself. For information on how to set up the slideshow for your own use click here. There is a help option (that can be viewed from the demo's preferences window) that has all the information needed on what the slideshow does and how to use it.
